Here we show the magnetic field as a cloud. Where the cloud is denser, the field is stronger. This really gives the best representation of how the magnetic field tapers off.
However, this sort of depiction does NOT show the direction of the field - which we need to know to figure out how it will move electrons! Further, pictures of clouds like this are hard to make out when printed in a book.
