Different combinations of electromagnets will produce different cantilever motions.

For instance, here, when all three electromagnets are energized together, the tripod and cantilever move straight back.

Then, as the left electromagnet is energized even more strongly and the right electromagnet is de-energized, the cantilever moves to the left.
